Hybrid Indexing Optimization of Best Matching 25 and Dense Passage Retrieval for Efficient Retrieval in Open-Domain QA

This research proposes a hybrid indexing approach combining BM25 sparse retrieval with Dense Passage Retrieval (DPR) to optimize document retrieval efficiency in Open-Domain Question Answering systems. The hybrid method leverages the complementary strengths of keyword-based and semantic vector matching to improve both precision and recall over single-method baselines.
